Controlled Drugs in State Databases must be made available in Health Information Exchanges

Two publications this week solidifies the need and methods for States to open up the databases of 

Controlled Substances to State HIEs.  
Having a web view of the data, as some State are doing, will not work in a clinical workflow (period).
