Am Pharmacy Informatics Assoication Circa 2021

The American Pharmacy Informatics Association (APIA), the national standard body for approving criteria for meaningful review for pharmacists as appointed by the National Health Consortium (NHC) and President Kennedy, has just release the criteria for the next set therapeutic agents.  The APIA is charged with establishing and approving the safe and appropriate clinical decision support criteria (A-CDS) for each therapeutic entity to protect patients with and without pharmacist review.

New Therapeutic Entities released with required Levels
Enrightamab – Level 5
Kenticillin –    Level 9 (ID)
Bobbamab –    Level 8
Flynnicillin-   Level 10

The levels as established by the APIA are as follows:
1 – no pharmacist review required e.g.CPOE to pharmacy, distribution, administration systems with no pharmacist, nurse, caregiver or individual review needed.
2 – no pharmacist review required with administration Clinical decision support with APIA approved criteria (A-CDS) in place
3-  no pharmacist review required if patient enrolled in the consumer protection plan and A-CDS in place (with real time notification of interacting substances)
4-  no pharmacist review required with A-CDS and certified clinical review technician in place
5-  no pharmacist review required if A-CDS criteria is checked after CPOE, pharmacist review mandatory if falls out of criteria or patient information not available
6-  no pharmacist review required if ordered from a NHC approved order set with A-CDS checks.  Pharmacist review mandatory if falls out of criteria
7-  no pharmacists review required but entry to the national ADE surveillance network mandatory with APIA criteria
8-  pharmacist review required after A-CDS checks at order entry
9-  pharmacist review required by certified specialist e.g. ID, Cardiology, Endocrinology, etc.
10- pharmacist review required and entry to the national ADE surveillance network mandatory with APIA criteria
